At IKEA we recognise that in a time when we are confined to our houses, but perhaps not our homes, LGBT+ people risk being more stigmatised, discriminated and isolated than ever before. That’s why to celebrate IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we’re releasing an LGBT+ rainbow flag version of our iconic FRAKTA bag – available online now. More than just a bag, this is a statement representing the hard-won rights and freedoms of the LGBT+ community. We will donate 100% of profits from the STORSTOMMA bag to local LGBT+ initiatives and charities chosen by IKEA stores across the UK and Ireland, to make sure that funds are directed to those from the LGBT+ community who need them most. IKEA UK and Ireland’s retail manager and chief sustainability officer Peter Jelkeby said; “We know that lockdown will disproportionately affect the LGBT+ community. With many isolated from their support networks, and with Pride celebrations postponed, it has never been more important to show our support and encourage everyone to provide a safe and welcoming space for members of the LGBT+ community and ‘be someone’s home’.”
