Here at SouthCityCon we’re dedicated to bringing you the latest when it comes to fashion, art, music and tattoo news – but we don’t think it stops just there. It’s a known fact that if you’re a part of this scene that it ends up becoming more than just an interest and turns into a lifestyle.
Once this lifestyle begins to consume your wardrobe and your music taste, the next step is your home. Before you know it your living space is filled with ultra-cool collectibles and limited edition artworks, but who’s complaining anyway? Whether it’s Medicom Toy BE@RBRICKS or uber-aesthetic homewares, we love it.
Upon one of our regular Instagram browsing sessions, we recently caught wind of a brand-new range of collectibles that instantly stood out to us as a winner. South Korean design studio coolrainLABO specialises in creating miniature scale sculptures of relevant people in the industry (Virgil Abloh, Jerry Lorenzo and Lil Yachty to name but a few). Alongside these pimped-out action figures, the studio also carefully crafts scale replicas of sneakers, comic book characters, and a hell of a lot more.
If, like us, you’ve got shelves full of limited edition collectibles and art pieces, we’re pretty sure you’re gagging to get your hands on one of these to display proudly already. Recently, the studio worked in close proximity with London-based footwear designer @mrbailey to create a totally accurate scale model of his Octopus sneaker design, featuring artwork by none other than the Japanese legend @takashipom.
Using an intricate pattern crafted from real fabric and resin, the sneakers are then carefully assembled and other than the obvious size difference, look just like the real thing. Alongside miniature sneakers, coolrainLABO have developed a few other signatures along the way, including their very own imaginative character that has become known as the Rabbit Trooper.
Combining key aspects from the legendary Storm Troopers (from the Star Wars franchise) and an anime-style Jessica Rabbit babe, the studio has created a one-of-a-kind character that’s sure to turn a few heads. While the scale replica figures have been an unprecedented success, the label has also worked closely with a group of other 3D artists to create a large metal bust of the character, that’s set to be on display at several galleries across the world.
As we mentioned above, the likelihood is that if you’re reading this article then these are going to be right up your street. Whether you like to keep your collectibles in the box for years on end or rip them open and admire them straight up, you’re going to be wanting to grab one of these. Don’t hesitate to head over the coolrainLABO’s online store and pick up a piece now, and let us know what you end up picking up!
I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.
